Stress management that works
Managing stress successfully where previous interventions have failed.
Overview
A police force recognised that its traffic department faced rising stress-related sickness, reductions in staff interest in the team, and declining morale based on staff surveys. Seeking a practical, evidence-based solution, the partnered with Adapt & Evolve Consultancy to deliver their Biological Wellbeing Training .
The results were more effective than any other intervention. Of the 43 attendees, 96% changed their mindset towards stress and after a 3 month period, 93% had maintained new habits to increase personal resilience.
What We Delivered: Biological Wellbeing Training
Officers learned how stress affects the body and brain, why chronic activation impairs judgement, and how to reset the nervous system during and after high-pressure incidents. We made them aware of the effect of stress on five body systems and a comprehensive tool kit to alleviate their response to stress.
Key Outcomes
Clearer Thinking Under Pressure
Officers reported faster recovery after high-intensity incidents and more consistent decision-making. Supervisors described teams as “calmer, clearer, and more focused.”
Reduced Stress and Emotional Reactivity
Self-reported physiological stress symptoms dropped with officers addressing both the causes and responses to stress. Officers also felt more in control of their responses during challenging situations.
The Impact
Adapt & Evolve’s unique, evidence based approach helped this specific department build a healthier, more resilient workforce. Officers left with practical tools they could use immediately, teams gained confidence in challenging stress enhancing behaviours, and the organisation saw measurable improvements in wellbeing, performance, and resilience.
